Chairman, Professional Standards Board for Patent and Trade Marks Attorneys 1998-2004; consultant to Macquarie Bank, the World Bank/IFC, Federal Ministry of Education, Queensland Government, and Melbourne, Deakin, Macquarie, Victoria, La Trobe and Charles Darwin Universities; former Vice Chancellor of Newcastle and Bond Universities; Chairman, In-Motion Technologies 2002-2006.
Prof Mortley’s speciality is project management, familiarity with public and private universities, privatisation of education, international markets, in particular Asian educational markets, industrial relations, intellectual property management and strategy.
In his career as Vice-Chancellor, which covered both the public and the private sectors, he specialised in intellectual property and industrial relations.
His main contributions have been in the reform and financial management areas, and has consulted widely for the World Bank/IFC, numerous universities, the Commonwealth Government and private companies.
