Overview:
Former New Zealand State Services Commissioner and Head of the NZ Public Service; in a 25 year career with the NZ Ministry of Foreign Affairs held diplomatic posts in Washington, Kuala Lumpur, Djakarta, Suva, Santiago, Brussels and Tonga culminating in appointment as Head of Chancery, Canberra.
He has been deeply involved with major policy and organisational reforms under successive New Zealand governments and international organisations. In addition to major reports for the New Zealand Government, one of which led to a significant change to the legislation, his consultancy assignments in public sector management have taken him to South Korea, Chile, Argentina, South Australia, PNG, Tonga and the Cook Islands.
He has been called upon to resolve serious management corporate governance and probity issues at the most senior levels of large organisations.
In recent years he has been invited by non-governmental organisations to develop strategies and resolve issues in a diverse range of areas.
